Wall street shines on firmer economic cues

Positive economic indicators bolstered the appetite for US equities on Monday following a period of volatility. Activity in the US services sector expanded in September, with growth accelerating at the most rapid pace in over five years, driven by a significant increase in new orders. The Services Business Activity Index registered 58.8 in the reported month, an increase of 2.3 index points from August. The US PMI Composite Output Index advanced by 2.4 index points month-over-month, reaching 58.4 in September. The Nasdaq increased 1.1% to 27,477.31, the S&P 500 gained 0.7% to 7,773.95 and the Dow climbed 0.2% to 51,267.90. Nevertheless, heightened treasury yields are anticipated to exert downward pressure on overall market activity. The yield on the benchmark US 10-year Treasury note surged above 5.30% to attain a two-decades high.
